I’m Bolatbek. I’m building Work Up Close, an independent research effort about how owner-led companies actually operate—and how routine work can become clearer, more reliable, and less dependent on constant founder attention.
Background
I came to software through operating and investing.
My first career included investment banking, private equity, venture capital, and working as CFO of a fixed-line telecom operator. That work kept bringing me back to the same question: what actually happens between a decision and a dependable result?
Now I build software and study the documents, handoffs, exceptions, and small decisions that keep established companies moving.
Current focus
Work Up Close
The research begins with conversations with owners and experienced managers, then reconstructs one workflow from real examples. It looks for hidden knowledge, weak handoffs, missed follow-ups, rework, revenue leakage, and avoidable operating cost.
Only after the evidence is clear does the work move toward a small, human-reviewed test. Software and AI may be useful tools; the work itself is the starting point.
